Beauty and the Geek 2022‘s resident Esports champion Samuel “Sam” Mitchell has raced into the hearts of fans Australia-wide, however, has his eye on a different prize in this competition.
The 25-year-old hails from Victoria and while he may serve as his Esports team’s “hype man”, the COVID-19 lockdowns saw him become a little more introverted than he’d like to be.
As such, Sam is hoping his allocated Beauty is a match made in reality TV heaven and will support him in getting out of his comfort zone.
However, even though he may need a little confidence boost from a lovely gal, Sam is certain he’ll be able to keep morale high within the Geek camp.
“If any of the Geeks need anything, I’m going to be out there to hype them up and help,” he assured 9Now.
How Did Beauty and the Geek‘s Sam Mitchell Become an Esports Champion?
Esports (short for “electronic sports”) is a form of competition using video games, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams.
This Geek‘s specialty is playing Counter-Strike, a multiplayer first-person shooter game devolved by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment.
Over his Esports career, Sam — or “Tham” as he describes himself with a lisp — has played over 8,000 hours of the game in order to reach the professional level he’s at today. That’s approximately 333 days of non-stop gaming!
Having studied at RMIT University, the Victorian was apart of the RMIT Redbacks ESports team while he gained his Bachelor of Business (Marketing).
These days, he works part-time as a Marketing Development Manager at OpusV Technology. Is there anything this guy CAN’T do?
Could Love Be On the Cards for Sam On Beauty and the Geek?
Having had some past dating experience, Sam told 9Now that he is “definitely open” to meeting a Beauty that he can “connect with”.
And he may have already done so!
“I am extremely impressed with Angelique. She’s not afraid to be who she is, she’s very weird and unique, and she’s confident in every single thing she does,” Sam confessed.
“I think Angelique can teach me how to not care what other people think.” Hear, hear!
