Below Deck Mediterranean‘s Hannah Ferrier has been harassed online for being a “bad mother”.
The reality star is currently filming the new Australian series The Real Love Boat, while her two-year-old daughter Ava is at home with Hannah’s husband Josh Roberts.
On July 2, the reality star hit back at trolls who claimed she was a “horrible mother” for working overseas when she had a child at home.
The Real Love Boat’s namesake is the romantic sitcom The Love Boat, which ran from 1976 to 1990 and is almost as outdated as these trolls’ sh*tty opinions.
The Real Love Boat’s Hannah Ferrier Responds to Trolls
Taking to social media, Hannah revealed that she had been inundated by trolls.
“Seriously, I am so disappointed with the amount of DMs and comments shaming me for working,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.
“If a man went to work for a few weeks no one would think a thing of it – yet I’m a bad mother for paying my bills. It’s 2022 people – get a grip [sic]”.
She then added that her career allowed her to spend 19 months with her daughter after she was born in 2020 before also addressing the “social media abuse” on her public Facebook page.
“We all have different family dynamics and jobs. Mine requires me to leave. She’s nearly two and I’ve had every day with her since she was born,” Hannah wrote, although she absolutely didn’t need to justify her choice.
“I am very used to social media abuse but questioning a mother’s love for her child is taking it a bit too far,” she said, before thanking the fans who were supportive of her as a “woman working hard and supporting her family”.
The Real Love Boat’s Male Cast Members Haven’t Received Backlash
To add more insult to injury, it looks like none of the male cast members with children have received the same backlash.
Hannah’s The Real Love Boat co-star Daniel Doody is also a father-of-two, but we can’t seem to find any kind of public hate on his account about going overseas for the role. And FYI, that was NOT us telling you to go troll him instead!
On July 4, Daniel shared his partner Joanne‘s video of their sons, two-year-old Reggie and eight-month-old Arlo, to his Instagram stories, writing: “I’ll be home very soon, I miss our boys so much.”
