The Bachelor Australia star Laura Byrne has admitted to previously having a “friends with benefits” relationship with a former Bachelorette contestant.
The 36-year-old is famous for finding love with Matty ‘J’ Johnson on The Bachelor in 2017, however, he’s not the first franchise hunk she’s dated!
Laura revealed the juicy tidbit during the latest episode of her podcast, Life Uncut, which she hosts with fellow Bachelor alum, Brittany Hockley.
“The best friends with benefits that I ever had is a guy who I dated many years ago,” she teased in their June 1 episode. “I dated a guy who was on The Bachelorette.”
Explaining that it was “never a weekend relationship”, Laura dubbed the contestant her “Wednesday night guy”.
“It was never good enough to be a Friday night or a Saturday night,” she said. “We both just knew, on a Wednesday, we’d go and get sushi, we’d have some great sex, we’d have a great time, I’d have a sleepover, I’d get up in the morning and I’d go to work.”

The mum-of-two dished that the rendezvous lasted for six months before it fizzled out. However, she didn’t specify what season of The Bachelorette the man appeared on.
Given only two seasons of Bachette had aired prior to Laura meeting Matty J in 2017, we’re guessing her “Wednesday night man” appeared amid Sam Frost or Georgia Love’s bids to find romance.
And given that Laura is a Sydney local, we’re placing our bets that her fellow sushi-lover is, too!
When Georgia’s season aired, Courtney Dober, Sam Johnston, Matteo (who apparently doesn’t have a last name) all hailed from Sydney.
As for Sam’s stint, Dave Billsborrow, Davey Lloyd, Alex Cameron and Luke Haddrick were also Sydneysiders at the time.
So, TBH, it’s anyone’s guess, but what a piping hot pot of tea, hey!
