Married at First Sight Australia 2023 will face huge changes after the series’ long-time executive producer stepped down from her role.

Tara McWilliams has been at the helm of Married at First Sight since 2016 and is the mastermind behind the sh*tton of hectic drama that’s graced (and disgraced) our screens.

According to recent reports, Tara will oversee a number of unscripted (see also: reality) shows in her new role as Director of Content with Endemol Shine.

While she may not be directly responsible for the MAFS chaos any longer, she will still be involved in the infamous marriage experiment.

Speaking about her new position, Endemol Shine CEO Peter Newman said: “Tara is without question one of Australia’s most outstanding unscripted creatives.

“Her phenomenal experience and passion will now plug into even more of our exciting unscripted slate.”

What is Tara McWilliams’ Role, Really?

Former MAFS bride Beck Zemek recently revealed that Tara calls all the shots on set — particularly at the lengthy dinner parties.

According to Beck, the duration of filming “depends on how fast you kick things off”.

“[Tara] will call it as a wrap as soon as she knows that she’s got pretty solid content,” Beck said. “She’ll keep you there as long… as she needs to.

“The drinks will keep flowing until they decide to let them stop.” Ummmm, sounds dangerous!!

The 2021 bride also confessed that the contestants are unaware of the time until after they’re released from filming for the night.

“Sometimes we get out and we look at the time [and] it’s like 2 AM or 3 AM and that’s just depending on when it kicks off,” she admitted. “You learn pretty much early on in the piece, the faster [the dinner party] kicks off, the faster you go home.

“So if you’ve got something to say, you might as well just say it… otherwise, you can stay there until someone says something.”
