MasterChef Australia relay challenge menace John Carasig is back on his bullsh*t in 2022, returning to the kitchen for Foodies vs Favourites.

John is best known for causing absolute carnage during his stint on MasterChef‘s seventh season, particularly in the high-pressure relay cook.

To recap: Despite the entire team agreeing on cooking mussels in a coconut and tomato broth, the flight attendant said “f*ck it” and decided to fix a white chocolate veloute to pair with the seafood. With only fifteen minutes to spare.

As you can imagine, sh*t hit the fan among both contestants AND viewers.

Now, John’s taking a shot at redemption on MasterChef Australia: Fans vs Foodies — although hopefully with a little less chaotic energy.

Where Does John Carasig’s Passion for Cooking Come From?

Born in the Philippines, John was inspired in the kitchen by his mother who helped him connect his passion with his culture.

At 10-years-old, his family migrated to Melbourne where the budding chef began to experiment with recipes while cooking meals for the household.

His passion, of course, led him to MasterChef Australia in 2015. However, despite his best efforts, John was booted from the series after a failed taste-test challenge.

The season was won by Billie McKay, who is also heading back to the MasterChef kitchen in 2022.

What Has John Been Doing Since MasterChef Australia 2015?

After waving goodbye to his OG MasterChef dreams, John started Abodo Kitchen Bean To Bar Chocolates. However, it is slated for a rebrand this year as TSOKOLATE.

The name is derived from a thick, native Filipino thick hot chocolate drink, which has no doubt been central to John’s upbringing.

The passionate home cook also works as a flight attendant, however, his business endeavours don’t stop there.

John and his long-term partner Dave, started Human Hair Wigs by Dave during the pandemic. The pair create custom-made human hair wigs for dancers, Drag Queens, cancer patients and individuals dealing with alopecia.

John also sews outfits for his bae, who works as a Drag Queen himself.
