SAS Australia’s Locky Gilbert set Twitter alight on Tuesday, March 1 after he revealed he hadn’t had a proper job in 10 years. Now, he’s addressed the backlash.
The reality star — who first appeared on Australian Survivor in 2017 — took to his Instagram stories on Wednesday, March 3, apologising to those he offended with the admission.
Taking to his Instagram story with a lengthy statement on Wednesday, March 2, Locky revealed that he wanted to “clear things up with the comment” he made the night before.
“I never meant it in the way it was edited,” he said. “What I meant was that I am so lucky that I get to do what I love every day. I said I haven’t worked a day in the last 10 years because ‘when you do what you love you don’t work a day in your life’. [sic]”
Locky then said that that saying he didn’t know “how people go to work everyday”, the edit cut out “where I said to a job they hate”.
“Unfortunately this came across the wrong way.”
“I have done the 12 hour days 7 days a week, working my a*s off in the last 10 years of my life,” he added. “I am just doing what I love so I don’t see it as work.”
He then revealed that he had “done the hard yards” and “respect everyone else that does the same.”
Concluding the statement, the 31-year-old said that he and his “beautiful partner [Irena Srbinovska] and mother both work in healthcare and they are both so passionate about their jobs, I love that they get to do what they love.”
“I never meant for it to come across the way it did and I am deeply sorry if my comments offended anyone.”
What Did Locky Say on SAS Australia 2022?
In a piece to camera during the Tuesday, March 1 episode of the hit series, the serial reality star revealed that “in the last ten years, I really haven’t worked.”
“It blows my mind, people, they get up, go to work every single day, living a mundane, boring life,” he said.
The former Bachelor then added: “I’ve done whatever I wanted to do and it’s got me this far.”
