Married At First Sight Australia 2021‘s Booka Nile has left the heavy metal band Make Them Suffer after five years as their keyboardist and clean vocalist.
Now, she has explained why.
Booka joined the band in 2017, several years before her 2021 stint on MAFS, and has toured with them in Australia, as well as in Europe, the USA and Canada.
The remaining members of the band announced Booka’s exit on Tuesday, February 22.
A statement released by the group read: “Booka Nile’s time as a member of Make Then Suffer has come to an end”.
The remaining members of Make Them Suffer are Sean Harmanis (vocalist), Nick McLernon (guitarist), Jordan Mather (drummer) and Jaya Amurao Jeffery (bassist). The group declined to comment any further on the matter.
Booka Nile Reveals the Reason She Quit Make Them Suffer
Taking to her Instagram on Tuesday, March 1, the 32-year-old reality star posted a cryptic Instagram post.
“A lie can travel half way round the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes,” she said. “Be patient or be a fool because the truth always catches up to the lie eventually [sic].”
Then, in the comments she added:
“Hey just want to say thank you to the people on this post sending me love and support. You’ll never know how much it’s helped me and is continuing to help me. I’m going to write a love song for y’all for your understanding and kindness.”
Booka Nile’s Initial Announcement About Her Exit
On February 25, Booka took to Instagram to speak out about her decision to leave the band.
The reality star paid tribute to her former Make Them Suffer bandmates, thanking them “for the memories”. She added: “It’s been real, y’all. I’m excited for the next chapter and to see what adventures come next”.
Fans obviously had a lot of questions, and Booka returned to Instagram with another post only hours later.
“My DMs are overflowing right now with people asking why I’ve left Make Them Suffer,” she wrote.
“I know you haven’t been given a proper explanation,” she admitted, “So I just want to say that I will release a proper statement and explanation over the next week or so.”
Booka continued her explanation for her lack of explanation as to why she left the band: “I’m super busy and exhausted from my crazy work life, but it’s important to me that those who have supported me so much over the years are given a proper, in-depth explanation of why I’ve left the band. So I promise I will explain soon.”
“In the meantime, I’d like to just thank you for the love you are all sending me in the wake of this news. It has warmed my heart,” the MAFS alum concluded.
