The Bachelorette Australia 2021‘s leading lady Brooke Blurton has come out swinging against ex Darvid Garayeli, claiming his shock breakup announcement “silenced” her.
Brooke was admittedly blindsided when her Bachelorette final pick publicly announced their split on Instagram in early January.
In an interview on NITV’s The Point, the 27-year-old confessed her disdain for the way Darvid chose to reveal their breakup without her input.
Noting that being a public figure is “already so difficult”, Brooke said a relationship born from The Bachelor franchise comes with a lot of “pressure”.
“Putting yourself out there in such a vulnerable place, it’s already so hard to navigate,” she said on Tuesday night. “Adding the layers and complexities of a very public relationship being from a show that doesn’t have the biggest success rate in terms of relationships working out.
“It’s a lot of pressure.”
The youth worker, who first appeared on Nick Cummins‘ season of The Bachelor in 2018, said she had “no choice” in her split from Darvid going public.
“I would’ve preferred not to [go public],” she admitted. “I feel like it was just to humiliate me, have one over me.”
Brooke continued: “I was silenced, I was defenceless, I just had to cop it.”
Darvid Garayeli Responds To Brooke Blurton’s Comments
On Tuesday evening, Darvid posted a screenshot of an article referencing Brooke’s comments to his Instagram Story.
“When will it end?” he questioned.
The 27-year-old added that it was “never [his] intention” to humiliate his ex.
He also wrote: “There’s a lot more to this story that hasn’t been shown. I’ve stayed quiet in hopes it would simmer out… incredibly confused as to why it’s being dragged on.”
What Happened When Brooke Blurton And Darvid Garayeli Split Up?
Just one month after The Bachelorette finale, Darvid revealed he and Brooke had parted ways.
“Starting the new year off with an end to a chapter and hopefully the beginning of another,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. Whilst we both genuinely thought we were each others [sic] person, things change and that’s okay.
“Please respect our privacy and that at the end of the day we are both just people with real feelings.
“Thank you so much for being considerate, alot of lessons learned.”
Brooke then made her own post, revealing that she was blindsided by Darvid’s post, despite agreeing that the breakup was amicable.
Nearly two weeks later, she released a lengthy statement on her Instagram Story detailing it was HER decision to split.
“I’ll be the first to say that it was my choice to end the relationship and I had been thinking about it for a bit towards the end,” she wrote.
“I had been unhappy for a bit and it wasn’t just solely because of the relationship. I have a lot of respect for Darvid and what he gave up for me to be IN the relationship but it seems that we both lost ourselves along the way.
“No infidelity, no hate, just a pressure cooker.”
