The stars of Channel Ten’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia are reportedly cashing in huge cheques for their time on the show.
While we’re under the guise that the contestants “volunteer” their star power and time in hopes of winning $100,000 for a dedicated charity, it turns out offering a personal incentive goes a long way when trying to recruit for the series.
TBH, we’d want to be getting paid the big bucks if we were asked to eat cow eyes for dinner, too!
According to reports, the size of the pay packet varies depending on the status of each celebrity. So how much is this year’s cast of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia getting paid for their appearances?
One Celebrity Is Raking In $400,000 For I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia
Network Ten reportedly needed “star power” for the show’s eighth season, which is how they managed to nab UK “naughty boy” Joey Essex.
The Only Way Is Essex alum is reportedly receiving the biggest pay packet of the series, amounting to $400,000!
Despite many Aussies not knowing who the serial reality star is, their positive reaction to Joey just goes to show that the network’s investment has paid off!
However, Joey isn’t the only celeb pocketing an eye-watering salary.
Raking in the second-highest pay is former Collingwood player and coach Nathan Buckley, who is reportedly leaving the jungle $300K richer.
What Have I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Contestants Been Paid In The Past?
While Network Ten “don’t comment on salaries”, many production insiders have spilled the beans on what past celebs have earned.
According to Woman’s Day, Geordie Shore‘s Charlotte Crosby raked in $50,000 for her appearance in the 2020 season.
Meanwhile, cricketer Shane Warne claims he pocketed an eye-watering $2 million for his foray into the jungle in 2016.
In his book No Spin, Shane recalled the moment Network Ten approached him to appear on I‘m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.
“I scared them off with a figure of two million bucks or nothing,” he wrote, although the network refused his counteroffer in 2014.
However, they changed their tune two years later, offering Warnie his original bid.
“[My manager] rang to say we’ve got the $2 million! Oh sh*t! When you throw a big number out there, you’re not really expecting to get it,” he said.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2022 is now airing on Channel Ten and 10Play.
