I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia stars dream of being crowned the King or Queen of the jungle, but what do they win if they reign victorious?
We know that we’d like to pocket a lil’ cash if we were made to get cosy with Australia’s creepy crawlies, however, the winners of the hit reality series go home empty-handed. Well, sort of!
While the celebs won’t take home any money for themselves, they all head into the competition with high hopes of raising money for their nominated charity.
Like many celebrity iterations of reality shows, the winner of I’m A Celebrity wins $100,000 to gift to an organisation close to their heart.
In the past, the large sum of prize money has gone towards Dementia Australia, RUOK?, Beyond Blue and the Mark Hughes Foundation.
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia Are Paid To Appear On The Show
Winning $100K for your charity is a pretty big deal. But there might be another incentive that has stars scrambling into the jungle.
According to Woman’s Day, Geordie Shore‘s Charlotte Crosby raked in $50,000 for her appearance in the 2020 season.
Meanwhile, cricketer Shane Warne claims he pocketed an eye-watering $2 million for his foray into the jungle in 2016.
In his book No Spin, Shane recalled the moment Network Ten approached him to appear on I‘m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.
“I scared them off with a figure of two million bucks or nothing,” he wrote, although the network refused his counteroffer in 2014.
However, they changed their tune two years later, offering Warnie his original bid.
“[My manager] rang to say we’ve got the $2 million! Oh sh*t! When you throw a big number out there, you’re not really expecting to get it,” he said.
