In a world first for the hit singing competition, Channel 7 is bringing together a host of eras in The Voice Generations 2022.

The special event series will kick off for one week only in the new year. But this is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before in The Voice arena.

In a new twist, singers from different generations will band together and deliver “showstopping performances, tears and triumphs”.

We’re talking best friend duos, Partridge Family-esque groups and musical neighbours. Channel 7 has even teased that students and teachers will team up for the spin-off series!

The network released its first trailer for the brand spankin’ new season on Wednesday. And to say we’re excited would be an understatement!

Viewers were given a glimpse into the mutli-generational talent that Australia has to offer, from tiny primary schoolers to grandparents battling out on the famous TV stage.

However, while the exciting new twist has upped the ante on The Voice, the crux of the popular show remains the same.

Over Generations‘ limited run, the contestants will still work their way through blind auditions and battles before going head-to-head to claim the top prize.

Who Are The Judges On The Voice Generations

Everyone’s favourite TV judges will be back in the spinning red chairs, too.

The trailer featured the return of Rita Ora, Keith Urban, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian and damn, do they look impressed by the contestants!

“This is the reason why I’ve come back to Australia,” UK songstress Rita said.

Similarly, country star Keith told a group they were “exactly what [he] imagined Generations would be.”

According to Seven Network’s Director of Programming, Angus Ross, The Voice Generations will add a new dimension to the franchise.

“[The series] is the perfect way to add an exciting new dimension to the format,” he said upon the show’s announcement in July,

The Voice Generations will kick of in 2022, prior to the The Voice returning for its 11th season.
