With the franchise being one of the world’s biggest singing competitions, it’s no shock that The Voice Australia 2023 has some superstar coaches.

The show’s 12th season will see the return of host Sonia Kruger and coaches Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Rita Ora. Sadly, homegrown talent Keith Urban won’t be on the coaching panel again.

Instead, we’re copping the talents of Whatcha Say RnB star, Jason Derulo, which we are SO excited about.

The Voice’s spinning red chairs will be occupied by an international RnB star, a UK songstress and two of Australia’s best homegrown talents. But, how did these four global phenomenons find themselves on The Voice Australia this year?

Scroll on to find out.

Rita Ora

No longer the only international artist on the coaching panel this year, Rita has plenty of experience shepherding budding musicians, having been a coach on The Voice UK and judge on The X Factor.

Rita has had a plethora of Number One hit singles in the UK. These include R.I.P and her collab Black Widow with Iggy Azalea, plus a bevvy of Top 40 songs here in Australia.

In 2022, she went on to marry Oscar-winning filmmaker and actor Taika Waititi, which comes as no surprise given she’s featured in her own fair share of films, such as Fifty Shades Darker and Pokémon Detective Pikachu.

Jessica Mauboy

Jessica is among Australian Idol’s best success stories, having skyrocketed to fame after coming second on the hit show’s fourth season. At the time, she lost out on the win to Damien Leith.

She brings to The Voice two ARIA awards, and a #1 ARIA chart album, while boasting an impressive feat performing at Eurovision Song Contest in 2018.

She also has a stack of acting credits to her name, plus awards and nominations for her roles in The Sapphires, Bran Nue Dae and TV’s The Secret Daughter.

The Voice 2021 was Jess’ first time adjudicating for one of Australia’s singing competitions.

Guy Sebastian

There’s no arguing that Guy is one of Australia’s favourite contestants to come out of any singing competition ever.

He shot to fame after winning Australian Idol’s inaugural season back in 2003, where he controversially beat out Shannon Noll

His debut track Angels Brought Me Here saw him jump to #1 on the ARIA charts that same year, and has amassed a number of hits ever since.

Not unlike his fellow coaches, Guy has had his fair share of experience helping musicians reach their potential.

He was previously been on the panel of The X Factor Australia for seven seasons, as well as being a coach of The Voice contestants since 2019, making him this year’s most seasoned professional.

Jason Derulo

Jason is a man that needs no introduction, having sold more than 250 million singles worldwide.

And, with a litany of hits such as Talk DirtyRidin’ Solo and Savage Love in his repertoire, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who wouldn’t have a boogie to his bops!

It’s fitting that he finds himself as a coach on reality TV since he got his start when he won the US series Showtime back in 2006.

He later appeared alongside Kelly Rowland on Ten’s Everybody Dance Now, which was axed in 2012 after four episodes.

Jason has also cemented himself as the King of TikTok, having raked in over 57 million followers on the app. And, we have a feeling he’ll be raking in a ton more after appearing on The Voice Australia 2023!
