Love Island Australia‘s Tayla Mellington has admitted that Australia was right about her villa beau Ryan Reid as she announces they are no longer together.
The other Islanders were shocked when Ryan ditched Lexy Thornberry for Tayla in Casa Amor, but fans of the show couldn’t say the same.
In fact, viewers had the 25-year-old pegged as a player since day dot and now it seems Tayla has come to the same realisation.
In an Instagram Q&A with fellow Love Island contestants Ari Kumar and Michela Louis, Tayla confessed she and Ryan are no longer an item
“No, me and Ryan are not dating,” the 26-year-old responded to a question about her relationship status. “I did come to Sydney to see if we would work but, yeah… Australia was right and he definitely proved that.”
She then added that she “wish[es] Ryan all the best”.
The Queenslander echoed the same sentiment on Michela’s account after another fan of the show asked if she was still with her villa bae.
“Definitely not with him,” she said. “I wish him all the best but he is just not my kind of guy.”
She also said, “not my morals”, insinuating sh*t went down that didn’t align with Tayla’s values!
In a later story, the customer service rep was asked what she meant when she said Ryan lived up to Australia’s impression of him.
“Let’s just say it was enough to get me on the next flight out,” she cryptically replied with a snap of her plane ticket and suitcase. Talk about taking the phrase “catch flights, not feelings” literally!
Tayla Mellington Was “Apprehensive” About Pursuing A Relationship With Ryan Reid
Tayla also confessed that she was “apprehensive” about pursuing a relationship with Ryan after she was questioned if she “actually want[ed] to give Ryan a chance”.
“No, I didn’t just feel bad for Ryan, I actually did like him,” she said. “I was apprehensive, I think everyone could see [that], but I did give him the benefit of the doubt… but I learned the hard way.”
She also revealed the pair were planning on doing a road trip together after she flew to Sydney! Looks like that ain’t going ahead anymore!
What Happened After Tayla Mellington and Ryan Reid Left The Villa?
After leaving the villa prior to the finale, Tayla told WHO that the pair were still in touch.
Despite Tayla admitting during the show she “[wants] it to just be friends” between them, she said after her elimination that they’re “definitely still talking”.
“We’re just going to take it slow, but we’re definitely still talking and we’ll see where it will all go,” Tayla admitted.
Did Ryan Reid Really Sleep With 500 Women?
Early in the series, Ryan revealed he had slept with over 500 women during a game of Kiss and Tell.
Firstly, announcing that on National Television is a weird flex and secondly, there is absolutely NO WAY this happened.
Thankfully, the Drama Army were on the case and in episode 112 of the So Dramatic! Megan Pustetto podcast, we got to the root (pun intended) of his claims.
The 25-year-old, who hails from the Central Coast, is apparently Not It, according to one source.
Responding to an Insta post we shared asking if Ryan was our next Super Spreader, they said: “He’s from my hometown. Absolutely has not slept with that many girls. No one even thought he was good looking until like the last two years and even then he’s really not a popular guy at all!” OUCH.
Ryan Reid Was In A Relationship For Multiple Years
According to the same source, “he’s not as well-travelled as he makes out”, which basically throws his reasoning — “I travelled a lot” — out the window.
Another source was quick to say that Ryan had definitely “slept around a lot” but it was more like “100 women”.
“Central Coast is a small place and I don’t have a single friend or know someone who has slept with him,” they said.
Then, a third source not only affirmed what we were all thinking but also helped us with the math.
“If you knew him when he was 16, you would know this is not true,” they said. “Also, the maths forgot to take into account the years he was in a relationship.” UMM…WHAT?!

And last but not least, a final source disagreed with the above and said he is a bit of a player outside the villa.
“I know at least 30 girls he got with that are my mates let alone the Central Coast,” they said. “He’s not loyal at all. He’s a player!” Well, duh!
