Love Island Australia 2021 finalists Jess Velkovski and Aaron Waters have confirmed they’ve split since leaving the show.

After several clues hinted at their separation, the former couple revealed that “disagreements” were the driving cause behind their breakup.

Chatting to 9Entertainment on Monday, Aaron said the pair were struggling to move past the alleged “filthy look” he gave Jess during a challenge.

“We still had issues seeing eye to eye on a situation in the villa,” he confessed. “I wanted to move past it, and at least thought we could grow from it, but there was no real growth there, so I just felt like it was best to part ways.”

He then said he tried to see things from her point of view but the approach “wasn’t reciprocated”.

“In ways I can understand her but in ways we just sort of didn’t mix well.”

The 24-year-old also admitted that there was “a lot of friction [and] tension” that followed them into the real world.

“Moving forward out of the Villa we had some time together and it kept coming up… so I felt like it was dragging us down.”

What Did Jess Velkovski Say About Her Split From Aaron Waters?

Jess also noted that their disagreements since exiting the villa put a damper on their relationship.

“We haven’t been seeing eye to eye on a lot since exiting the Villa,” she explained, adding that their breakup conversation was “really hard”.

“We’re not agreeing on a lot of stuff as well and obviously when the relationship is rocky, thinking about the future. We were just coming to terms that it wasn’t going to work.”

The 21-year-old also confessed she didn’t feel like she was a “priority” and “didn’t fit in” with Aaron’s future plans.

Jess Velkovski and Aaron Waters Announce Their Split On Instagram

Both Jess and Aaron took to their Instagram stories on Monday to confirm their separation.

In a two-slide video, Aaron reiterated his previous remarks about him and Jess not seeing eye to eye.

“Obviously, Jess and I have broken up,” he expressed. “Just to clarify there is absolutely no bad air between Jess and I.

“Out of sight, out of mind kinda thing for me right now.”

Jess announced the split with a simple post addressing the many questions she received about their relationship.

“A lot of people have been asking about Aaron and I,” she penned. “Unfortunately we are no longer together. We both agreed it’s for the best for the both of us.

“Appreciate all of your love and support.”

The Rumours That Jess “Stole” The $50K Love Island Prize Money In Their Pre-Recorded Win

One of the theories behind Jess and Aaron’s split was that Jess “stole” the $50,000 Love Island prize money in the couple’s pre-recorded win.

So Dramatic! previously reported that Love Island Australia 2021‘s finale wasn’t filmed live as originally advertised.

In fact, they filmed three separate endings for each couple. However, they only aired Mitch Hibberd and Tina Provis‘ victory after the public vote decided they were the fan favourites.

In the finale, the winners were given the option to steal the $50,000 prize money for themselves or split it with their partner. And apparently, Jess opted to keep the $50k for herself instead of splitting it with Aaron when they filmed their winning ending!

However, 9Entertainment has since rubbished the claims after a source “close to production… confirmed this is not true.”
