Dan Ewing is known best as being a Braxton brother on Home and Away, but now, he’s battling the SAS Australia 2021 course, all to be a better version of himself.

When he’s not taking on the gruelling physical and mental challenges thrown at him by the SAS Directing Staff, Dan has spoken about his broken marriage to ex-wife Marni Little and his love for their seven-year-old son Archer during interrogation sessions on the show.

Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about Dan and his family dynamic!

His Marriage to Marni Little

The 36-year-old and comedy-writer Marni tied the knot in 2012 before welcoming Archer two years later in 2014. The exciting news was warmly welcomed by fans and friends of the couple, especially after Marni suffered a devastating miscarriage at ten weeks in 2013.

The pair unfortunately called it quits on their three-year marriage in December 2015, citing “irreconcilable differences”, but the Occupation Rainfall actor has since revealed he’s to blame for the relationship breakdown!

Speaking to radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson in 2016, Dan admitted he was “really hard to deal with”.

“We were in the States and I wasn’t having a good time,” he said, noting that he didn’t find his time there “conducive to creativity or happiness”.

He added that there was “no major catalyst” for the marriage breakdown, but his unhappiness contributed to him “not appreciating what [he] had” at the time.

“I was so concentrated on what I was going to do next and my ego and just being a typical idiot male Gemini,” he said.

In September, Dan also spoke about the effect his anxiety and alcohol dependency had on his marriage during an interview with the Imperfectly Perfect Podcast.

The former Home and Away star said he suffered mentally after finding fame on the hit Aussie soap and despite “kicking goals work-wise”, his behaviour wasn’t helping him maintain “a great relationship or a great marriage or a great lifestyle.”

A Terse Relationship With Archer’s Step-Father

Since her split with Dan, Marni has found love with youth worker David Robertshaw, who she married in 2018. In turn, David became step-dad to young Archer, but it was the introduction of another father figure for his son that had Dan seeing red.

Just days before the wedding, police were allegedly forced to issue the SAS Australia contestant with an apprehended violence order (AVO) on behalf of Marni’s partner, after Dan allegedly assaulted David at a custody exchange.

Police were called to the handover location at Neutral Bay after Dan reportedly refused to hand Archer over to his step-father, who arrived without Marni.

In 2011 Dan was also charged after allegedly assaulting then-fiancée Marni at their Northern Beaches home during a dispute. Despite officers citing that Marni suffered “superficial injuries to her arm”, the charges were later dropped.

Marni and David have since welcomed their first child together, a son named Charlie, in 2019.

Finding Love With His Co-Star

Marni wasn’t the only one to find new love after she and her ex-husband went separate ways — Dan confirmed in late 2016 that he and fellow Home and Away actor Kat Risteska were in a relationship when he posted a photo of the now-26-year-old online.

Dan opened up about his relationship with Kat on Channel 7’s The Morning Show in 2018, confessing he was the one who initiated the relationship with his co-star via social media.

“I was single for about eight months give or take… and then it was just months of stalking her [online] really!” he revealed on the show. Reports say that the pair have known each other since Kat was just 19-years-old.

In September, Dan hinted to New Idea that marriage could certainly be on the cards for him and Kat, who also appeared on So You Think You Can Dance Australia in 2009.

“You know when you know, and I know with Kat,” he told the publication, adding: “We have a lot of love and respect for each other, we work well as a team.”

The couple is aiming to move to Queensland in a few months time to be closer to Archer, who has lived in the Sunshine State with Marni and David since 2020.

You can catch Dan on SAS Australia 2021 on Channel 7, Monday through Wednesday nights at 7:30pm.
