About the role

So Dramatic! Online (sodramaticonline.com) is seeking a Managing Online Editor to work across our website sodramaticonline.com. Reporting to the CEO and Director, you will be responsible for managing a team of digital content producers on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate will enjoy leading a fast-paced newsroom, and be experienced in editing and creating original and high-quality content in a variety of types, including breaking news, SEO-based content, long-form interviews, exclusives, and social media posts.

The Managing Online Editor will be accountable for executing content strategies, driving traffic to the website, and enhancing audience experience and engagement. As well as ensuring all KPIs are met, carrying out staff training, creating and adapting SEO and content strategies, and ensuring the brand’s tone is consistent across all platforms.

Duties

  • Using journalism skills to source engaging and newsworthy stories and delegating content to writers
  • Managing the daily editorial operations, including overseeing a team of journalists, to ensure deadlines are met and editorial and audience targets are achieved across the team
  • Responsible for editing all digital and social media content efficiently and to tight deadlines, ensuring copy is factually correct, highly engaging and on-brand
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and media contacts both internally and externally to generate a steady flow of exclusive stories and leads
  • Working closely with the CEO and Director and team members to execute the brands’ digital content strategies
  • Using social platforms to amplify content and reach audiences
  • Interviewing celebrities and attending and reporting on events on behalf of the brand
  • Optimizing podcast content for a digital audience
  • Using audience data to create and implement content strategies and grow audience size and engagement across all platforms
  • Maintaining the brand’s tone, voice, and position in the market
  • Monitoring the news cycle and social media
  • Implementing best SEO practices for new and existing reality TV shows

Skills and experience

  • Communications or Journalism Degree
  • 4+ years experience in digital publishing, preferably in the entertainment space
  • Previous experience as a senior reporter or editor with the ability to manage a growing team in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience creating an effective social media strategy
  • Proficient in CMS, photo editing, and scheduling tools
  • Ability to use analytical tools such as Google Analytics to monitor performance and inform decisions and strategy
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing an SEO strategy
  • A strong news instinct for finding engaging stories and following digital trends
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly organised
  • Knowledge of reality TV and celebrity news
  • Problem-solving abilities and a can-do attitude
