FBOY Island Australia host Abbie Chatfield has shared devastating family news, and our hearts are breaking for her.
During the October 1 episode of her It’s a Lot podcast, the Bachelor breakout star sadly announced she’d rehomed her one-year-old puppy, Daisy, who’s been part of her life since April.
“I’m nervous about recording today’s episode. I’m scared about the backlash because I feel sick about the whole situation,” she told her listeners.

Abbie tearfully explained that she’d given her pup a new home because she was negatively affecting her eight-year-old dog, Walter, who had anxiety from his previous owners.
“I don’t want to say it’s because of Walter, because it’s not his fault, but his traumas and how they’ve manifested meant it wasn’t working [with Daisy],” the 29-year-old said.
“So before anyone gets into my DMs, I’ve spent six months agonising over this. I’ve tried my hardest and never thought I’d give up a dog.”
Abbie Chatfield explains why she had to rehome her dog, Daisy
The podcast host explained that she’d tried “literally everything” to make her dogs get along.
Before bringing Daisy into her home, she’d never heard Walter growl. However, he’d growl at Daisy out of jealousy and “pin her down.” And although he’s never been super aggressive with Daisy, he became overly protective of Abbie.
“It got better when I started dating Adam [Hyde] because there were two of us, and Daisy had Adam, and Walter had me. But when Adam was away, Walter’s anxiety doubled because he got used to having him around,” she confessed.
Abbie explained that the experts had told her that Walter was “resource guarding” his owner or trying to protect her like he would his favourite ball.

She then compared the relationship between her pups to King Charles and Princess Diana‘s.
“She’s Lady Di, and she has an evil man living at home, and that’s Walter,” she joked.
She then insisted that Daisy did “nothing wrong” and that she loves her “more than anything”.
However, Walter’s growing jealousy of her wasn’t something Abbie could work through.
“I knew puppies were hard, and this isn’t why she was given up,” the TV host justified. “I just don’t have the skills, the capacity or the understanding of dogs to fix their relationship.”
Where does Abbie Chatfield’s dog Daisy live now?
Abbie revealed that Daisy lives with one of her friend’s sisters in Brisbane, so she knows she’s in good hands.
She also revealed that the day she gave Daisy to her new owner, she “scream cried in the shower”.
“I’ve raised her and gone through the hardest parts of her puppyhood. I’ve done all the hard work with her. She is the best dog,” she reflected. “But I couldn’t train the trauma out of Walter.”
