Just as we wish a not-so-sombre farewell to Katie Hopkins as she’s booted out of Aus, the much anticipated Big Brother VIP Australia cast has been revealed and well, to put it lightly, it’s disappointing AF.
The Seven Network announced the series back in March with Big Brother host Sonia Kruger back at the helm. They also it would feature “some of Australia’s best-known celebrities” — except they’re not all Aussie. Hell, we wouldn’t even call some of them celebrities!
While rumours attached Neil Patrick Harris and Vanderpump Rules bad boy Jax Taylor to the series, they’re nowhere to be seen on the leaked list of contestants, which boasts an AFL player, multiple models, and a certain Duchess’ estranged brother… HUH?
If you’re just as turned off yet intrigued as we are, keep reading to find out more about the mind-boggling cast of Big Brother VIP 2021.
Caitlyn Jenner
Former Olympian and Reality TV Star
Instagram: @caitlynjenner
The once-patriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner klan will arguably be the biggest name to step foot in the BB VIP house, and we’re curious if she’ll be able to keep up with the drama that’s sure to unfold, or if she’ll put her Olympic sprinting skills to the test as she hightails TF outta there.
Jessika Power
Former Married at First Sight Contestant
Instagram: @jessikapower
After a source told radio personalities Fitzy and Wippa the infamous MAFS star was locked into the upcoming series, everyone in Australia collectively rolled their eyes — fingers crossed Jessika with a K will stay far away from any cheating scandals during her next reality TV stint.
Danny Hayes
Big Brother Australia 2021 Fan Favourite
Instagram: @daniel_hayes3
In a surprising redemption arc, Danny is back to take another stab at the Big Brother title, after claiming he would never do another reality show following his eviction from the house earlier this year.
Imogen Anthony
Model, Kyle Sandilands’ Ex-Girlfriend
Instagram: @imogen_anthony
Famous for being radio sensation Kyle Sandilands’ ex, this model is pegged to up the ante in the BB house and if reports are anything to go by, she might even give some of the other drama queens in the house a run for their money!
Matt Cooper
Rugby League Legend
Instagram: @coopsmatt
The retired NRL star wowed judges and viewers alike when he appeared on Dancing With The Stars in 2014, but the only dancing he’ll be doing on BB this year will be with the devil — Big Brother himself, that is.
Luke Toki
Survivor Australia Winner
Instagram: @luketoki
Luke first won the hearts of viewers nationwide when he appeared on Survivor in 2017, then again when he made a comeback in 2019, but does this self-proclaimed ‘King of the Jungle’ have what it takes to outwit, outlast and outplay his fellow housemates?
Bernard Curry
Actor, Wentworth
Instagram: @bernardcurry
The former Beauty and The Geek host and star of the prison-centric Wentworth might have a crack at taking out the title of BB VIP, but something tells us Bernie might be more comfortable in the confines of a fictional prison rather than in the BB compound.
Ellie Gonsalves
Model and Wildlife Advocate
Instagram: @ellie_gonsalves
Whether it’s Big Brother or Animal House, this wildlife warrior beauty will need to reach deep into her arsenal for the skills to tame her fellow housemates, because this season of BB VIP is undoubtedly about to get messy.
Josh Carroll
Influencer
Instagram: @iamjoshcarroll
Because “influencer” directly translates to “celebrity” when it comes to Aussie reality TV, the 31-year-old Instagram sensation will be in his element in the Big Brother VIP house, cuddling up to fellow influencers and models in a bid to take out the crown.
Dayne Beams
AFL Star
Instagram: @beama_9
He might be a star on the footy field but Big Brother is a whole other ball game, where kicks are metaphorical and to the gut, especially when it comes to blindsiding your fellow housemates.
Omarosa Manigault Newman
Donald Trump’s Former Political Aide
Instagram: @omarosa
The first of two BB VIP contestants who have us wondering who TF cast them, Omarosa Manigault Newman is the only POC (so far) revealed to be heading into the house — which is ironic because she was once an advisor… for the former US President… who is known for preaching anti-white sentiments… MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!!!
Thomas Markle Jr
Meghan Markle’s Half-Brother
Instagram: @thomasmarklejr
He might be the Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother but there’s nothing regal about Thomas Markle Jr., aside from the fact he might be a royal pain in the ass come crunch time on Big Brother VIP, and while we have many thoughts about this peculiar casting, none of those are appropriate to air here. That is all.
Big Brother VIP Australia kicks off on November 1 at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
