Married at First Sight Australia viewers have dissed the show’s tribute to former expert Trisha Stratford following her death.

Fans of the marriage experiment were shocked to learn of the 72-year-old’s death in September. The news was announced by her co-star and friend, John Aikenon social media.

An insider later revealed that the 11th season of MAFS would begin with an in-memoriam tribute to Trisha during its January 29 premiere.

However, fans have since expressed disappointment in the lacklustre six-second tribute that aired at the conclusion of the season launch.

During the episode, a black screen was accompanied by the inscription: “In memory of Dr Trisha Stratford.”

Taking to the So Dramatic! Communi-TEA Facebook group, one user confessed it was “a sh*t tribute”.

“Not ‘in living memory’, no picture, nothing,” they wrote.

Another viewer said the “tribute was pretty blah”.

Trisha was an expert on Married at First Sight for seven seasons before she resigned in 2019.

MAFS 2024‘s premiere comes after a source told Yahoo! Lifestyle that Trisha’s co-stars, Mel Schilling and John would “feel cheated” if the creators didn’t include the former expert in the latest season.

“[John] quite worried how the network would handle the tragic loss of such an instrumental part of the MAFS family, and he really made his voice heard to make sure that something was going to be done,” they told Yahoo! Lifestyle.

“After all, they have all put so much of their lives into the success of MAFS. They will feel more valued when they see this kind of acknowledgement.”
