The Bachelors Australia 2023‘s Ben Waddell and his final pick Mckenna Lea have already announced their breakup and colour us shocked — not!
ICYMI: During the December 20 finale, fans rejoiced as Ben chose the beautiful and intelligent Mckenna.
However, it looks like things weren’t as rosy IRL… Rhe pair took to Instagram on December 21 to let their followers know that they’d parted ways.
Ben was the first to announce the split, stating that “things with Mckenna” didn’t “work out the way they’d hoped”.
“In the end the distance was difficult. We both had extended commitments overseas in different time zones, which was challenging,” he explained in the caption.
“Mckenna is a bright, vibrant and truly incredible person. I’m so lucky I got to meet her and spend some quality time together,” he said. He added that the pair are still “great friends”.
“I’m very excited to see what the future has in store for her,” he finished. Sad times!

Mckenna also uploaded a post addressing the breakup.
“I knew [our connection] was something special, but I couldn’t have imagined falling for someone in such a wild situation,” she wrote.
“From being terrible at darts at Luna Park to stolen moments at the mansion and the warmth of family introductions. I’m so happy that I was able to open up and take a chance on a potential future together.
“While distance and communication over the last few months prevented us from exploring our romantic connection and Ben and I aren’t together, we are still in contact as friends and I only want the best for him.”
She added: “This may not have been the outcome I’d hoped for, but I’ve taken so many lessons from this amazing experience. I walk away with a renewed sense of self, a full heart and beautiful friendships.”
