After three weeks of intricate challenges and sweet surprises, the first-ever winner of Dessert Masters 2023 has been crowned.

In the bittersweet finale, former MasterChef Australia contestants Reynold Poernomo, Jess Liemantara, and pastry chef Gareth Whitton battled it out during one final task.

The finalists were allocated four hours to serve 17 dishes for a two-course service challenge.

Who won Dessert Masters 2023?

Of course, only one contestant could successfully win the show and $100,000 in prize money, and that was Tarts Anon co-founder Gareth.

“I couldn’t be happier to have been asked to be involved in the very first Dessert Masters, and to come out the other side with the chocolates makes it that much sweeter,” he said.

“I always knew that I was somewhat of an underdog coming into this competition, however, I knew that a few unique skills and years of tough restaurant work could be enough to shake things up.”

Gareth added that the relationships he fostered on Dessert Masters will “stay with [him] forever”.

“I have forged some professional and personal connections that have made this experience one of the most enjoyable and constructive in my career,” he confessed.

“The inspiration and friendship my fellow contestants and the judges provided, have motivated me in ways that words can’t describe.”

Congrats, Gareth!
