Big Brother VIP‘s Ellie Gonsalves has divided fans after sharing a list of 118 reasons why she “doesn’t want kids”.
The 32-year-old model has previously been candid about not wanting to have children in the future.
Now, she’s taken to Instagram with an extensive list of why she has reached this conclusion.
“I’ve addressed a lot of this in my stories before & it’s opened up a LOT of discussion… There’re thousands of people out there who feel very seen by this & equally as many who feel very triggered by it,” she wrote on November 26.
“So, let’s talk about it in depth with no filter… ‘MY REASONS TO REMAIN CHILDFREE.'”
Ellie continued: “I had many people saying to me today (out of love) ‘are you sure you want to post this list? I have also already received hundreds of dms criticising me tell me [sic] how much of a horrible & broken person that I am,” she wrote on November 26.
“And while some of those things on my list are satirical, many are serious and factual.”
The Wildlife Warriors ambassador admits she has had positive experiences when explaining she doesn’t want children. However, Ellie said she “can probably count those experiences on one hand”.
“On the other side of this… I have felt less than, been made to feel ashamed for my opinion & been made to feel like I am a bad person for my personal opinion that I know works for me & my life.”

Among the 118 reasons she has opted not to have children, Ellie listed bodily changes and concerns that come with being pregnant.
“Body swelling. Face swelling. Body swelling can be accompanied by varicose veins that are extremely painful,” she wrote.
“You could get an infection in the CS scar. You could tear. You could get kidney stones from pregnancy.”
The Big Brother star also detailed parental worries as reasons for withdrawing from parenthood.
“Their suffering is YOUR suffering. You will constantly worry about their troubles. The existence of child predators and them potentially having contact with your child. What if they get trafficked [?].”
How have fans reacted to Ellie Gonsalves’ reasoning for not wanting kids?
In the comment section, many fans criticised Ellie’s decision not to be a mother.
“So much fear. Better not to have kids if that’s what you will instil into them anyway. Gosh, so many self-centred people in this world,” one person commented.
Another penned: “Don’t forget that you once were a baby and someone had the sacrifice so you could have life and experience the gift of life.
“Children are the most incredible miracle and the future of humanity. Definitely, not everyone has to have children. But biology doesn’t lie, the female body was created to birth the gift of life.”
In another response shared to the model’s Story, one user said Ellie would “regret it when [she’s] old and lonely”.
“I expected this response,” she wrote in reply. “Let me just say, having kids so you’re not old and lonely is an INCREDIBLY selfish reason to have them.
“And secondly, reproducing is not the ultimate insurance policy against loneliness.”
She continued: “As an old lady I’m going to be enjoying life with a marg in my hand, going on my hot girl walks with my beautiful husband [Ross Scutts], 400 Pomeranians and gossiping with all of the old biddys [sic] about THEIR kids.”
Ellie Gonsalves shares support from fans
In a subsequent Instagram Story, Ellie shared a collection of the support she has received from her followers since her post.
“To the hundreds of comments & dms like this from people who feel seen by what I have shared — I GOT YOU,” she penned.
“All of these comments far outweigh the negative and always will. I could respond to all of them but know I try and respond, read as much as I can.”
Since sharing her controversial post, Ellie told Mamamia that the response has reiterated her reasoning.
“[They] further illustrate my main point: people are told and sold a certain life, and when they witness others choosing a different path, the frustration lies within themselves,” she said.
“They may not realise there is an alternative path or may not be mature enough to accept that others can live a life different from theirs without the need to harbour resentment.”
