Insiders have shared damning intel about The Block 2023‘s Kyle and Leslie Cottone, revealing that they DID somewhat cheat during Backyard Week.
Things reached breaking point as the Blockheads raced to finish their backyards on Charming Street, with Leah and Ash Milton suspicious that House One’s $40,000 fixed price was a severe undervaluation.
Fans flocked to social media to roast Leah and Ash for calling the couple out, saying she should have pre-planned and secured her own fixed quote.
However, as reported in episode 323 of the So Dramatic! podcast, it seems that House Two’s hunch may have been spot on.
“Leah and Ash were right to question the situation,” a The Block insider said. “It doesn’t come up on the show but it all came out after filming that they had cheated.
“They literally have $0 in their bank after backyard week and still manage to present a decent front yard. It’s just impossible.”
Kyle and Leslie Cottone’s The Block landscaper admitted to ‘bearing the costs’
The source explained how exactly Kyle and Leslie managed to achieve their luxurious backyard for just $40k.
“There was a lot of money lost for their landscaper [Troy]. He ran the job at a loss which goes against The Block rules,” they said. “You’re only meant to get a maximum of a 50 per cent discount off the usual price, but they got a much bigger discount than that.
“There is also a minimum rate for trades that all houses have to adhere to .”
Apparently, Troy “eventually admitted to bearing the costs himself” because he was keen on getting “publicity” from the show.
When asked how this managed to skate past production if it was against the rules, the insider said Troy didn’t confess until “after filming”.
“And if they did do an audit, he would have easily been able to fudge the supplier invoice and hide in on paper anyway,” they conclude.
Yikes! It looks like The Block 2023 DID have a serious cheating scandal after all!
