Masked Singer Australia panellist Abbie Chatfield has spoken out about the shock gender pay gap in her previous role as an analyst in commercial real estate.
During the September 12 episode of her podcast, It’s a Lot, Abbie revealed that her male colleagues were getting paid much more than her.
“I was an analyst with a degree in property economics and when I graduated I wanted to ask for a pay rise,” she told Meggie Palmer, founder and CEO of PepTalkHer.
“So I went around to all the boys and asked them what they were [getting paid]. And all of them were earning at least $20,000 more than me,” she revealed. And we can’t believe this is still a thing in the 21st century…
According to the FBoy Island Australia host, 28, her male coworkers were performing the same role as her. However, she was also completing additional administrative duties.
“When I was in corporate, I noticed that lots of women have to take ‘foot in the door jobs,’ and they ended up doing their role slash admin or slash receptionist. So they’re doing two jobs for less money,” she explained.
“So I was doing all the stuff that the analysts would do, then I was also doing miscellaneous admin.”

The Bachelor breakout star asked for a raise during a performance review, but she was told that there weren’t enough funds to grant her a pay rise.
However, once she stated that her male co-workers were earning more than her, she was immediately given a $20,000 increase.
“It was f*cked,” she said. “And then I left and I went on The Bachelor and the rest is history.”
