The Bachelorette Australia 2018‘s Charlie Newling has reportedly died, aged 36.

According to Daily Mail, Newling — who appeared on Ali Oetjen‘s season of the dating show — died after his vehicle went over a cliff in Dover Heights, Sydney, around 11 pm on September 9.

Police and paramedics arrived at Raleigh Reserve after being contacted by nearby residents who found his car on fire at the bottom of the 70-metre drop.

Per the outlet, Newling recently welcomed his second child, a daughter, with partner Kristal Taylor just eight weeks ago.

He also has a 13-year-old son from a previous relationship.

A police spokesperson has confirmed Newling’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

The reality star maintained a relatively low profile until September 2022, when he was sentenced to 13 months prison for threatening to torture and kill his stepfather in a series of text messages sent to his mother.

Magistrate Ross Hudson heard Newling had suffered significant childhood trauma and struggled with alcohol abuse.

However, Magistrate Hudson said he had to consider the “fear, torment and horror” caused by Newling’s messages.

He was handed a 13-month prison sentence to be served in the community.
