Love Island‘s Jessie Wynter has revealed that she was rushed to hospital after someone spiked her drink while on holiday in the US.
On June 20 – one day after the incident which occurred in a Chicago bar – the reality star took to Instagram to share her experience and raise awareness about the “harsh reality” of going out for drinks.
“I wasn’t sure if I should post this as I felt so embarrassed but the other night I was unfortunately rushed to hospital after my drink was spiked,” the personal trainer wrote.
The 26-year-old said she was lucky that she was with her boyfriend Will Young, as the situation was “awful and scary”.
“It breaks my heart that this is something people need to look out for,” she continued.
“If you’re out drinking, please make sure you’re with someone you trust and please be careful when setting your drinks down or accepting drinks off others.
“It’s so sad that this even has to be a reminder but unfortunately it’s the harsh reality,” she added.
The influencer then shared that she was grateful to have been around “so many supportive people” who got her safely to the hospital.
“It was so scary. In the hospital, there were other girls arriving in the exact same condition I was in. The nurses said we had all tested with the same thing in our system,” she said.
Love Island’s Jessie Wynter says people shouldn’t feel ’embarrassed’ about being spiked
Jessie confessed that she felt “so embarrassed” that this had happened to her.
“I felt like it was all my fault … but this is your reminder that this is not at all your fault and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” she told her fans.
“The people that should feel embarrassed and ashamed are the awful people who choose to spike other people’s drinks, not the victims,” she added.
Jessie then sent her love to “anyone who’s been put in the same or worse situations.”
Many reality stars flooded the comments section with supportive words.
“Oh bubs, I’m so sorry,” Too Hot to Handle’s Emily Miller wrote.
Whilst Love Island UK‘s Claudia Fogarty said: “Sending love Jessie hope your okay,” with a string of white hearts.
Perfect Match’s Georgia Hassarati also sent her support, commenting: “Omg that’s so scary, sending you love.”
Meanwhile, Love Island UK 2021‘s Sharon Gaffka penned: “Please don’t feel embarrassed, it’s not your fault! The only person who should feel embarrassed is the person who did this to you!
“Sending you a big hug and I’m always here if you need me.”
