X Factor star Johnny Ruffo has given fans a heartbreaking update about his fight with terminal cancer.
Sharing a photo of himself in the hospital with his girlfriend Tahnee Sims by his side on March 2, he revealed he’d started another round of chemotherapy this week.
Putting on a brave face, the actor smiled and gave a thumbs-up while he sat in a medical chair.
“Back in my favourite chair,” he sarcastically captioned the image, adding the hashtags #ihatethischair and #f**kcancer.
Johnny’s close friends and Home and Away co-stars praised the singer for his strength.
“Sending you so much love Johnny,” Emily Symons commented.
“Big love to you mate, big love,” Georgie Parker added.
“Thinking of you Johnny, I’ve been following your battle. Keep fighting,’ one fan wrote.
“Your an inspiration Johnny! Australia loves you [sic],” added another.
In December, the actor and singer marked another year of undergoing chemotherapy and revealed he was looking forward to having a break and spending time with family over Christmas
Johnny spoke to Carrie Bickmore on The Project in August 2022 confessing he was running on borrowed time.
“At some point, it will get me but I’m still fighting. Still kicking on. Looking up my diagnosis and my tumour, the average life expectancy was three years,” he said.
Johnny enjoyed remission in 2017 after his initial diagnosis but tragically, the cancer returned in 2020.
The love for Johnny can really be felt and we hope he can keep defying the odds in the future.
