Married at First Sight Australia’s Domenica Calarco has asked users on Reddit to rate her against a current bride and well, let’s just say, it didn’t quite go to plan.
On February 15, the 2022 bride posted an image of herself next to current contestant Melinda Willis wearing a similar dress, with the caption: “Who wore it better?”.
After sharing the post, where she asked Reddit users to rate her against Melinda, the reality star was criticised for pitting women against each other.
“Who thinks it’s a good idea to stop comparing women and pitting them against each other?” one user asked.
Another wrote, “It’s not a competition. Women are different and have different bodies and styles.”
Others called the post “icky” and hit back at the anti-feminist post saying “both women are hot AF.”
“No one wore it better than the other,” another stated. “There’s no comparing the two strong and very individual women.”
Other users accused the 28-year-old of trying to be “Abbie Chatfield 2.0″ but said Abbie would “never ever encourage her followers to compare her to another woman.”
“Your feminism exists only for you to leverage off, it is so, so fake,” accused one Redditor. “Just pathetic.”
“Fishing for compliments?” another asked.
Whilst a third questioned, “Dom just trying to feed her ego?”
Many fans were shocked the beauty influencer would make such a shady post from her public profile, with one person describing it as “brave.”
“Dom, stop trying to compare women like it’s some kind of competition. It’s gross. Two women can wear a similar dress and shouldn’t have to worry if people think someone ‘wore it better’,” another user said.
Domenica Calarco then hit back at the haters on Reddit saying it was just a “joke”
The former MAFS star then claimed that her post was just a “joke.”
“I’m not comparing, it was a joke. The dress is similar… it’s light hearted. Don’t understand why people are so riled up over this [sic],” Domenica hit back.
However, the MAFS_AU Reddit community weren’t happy with her excuse and continued to criticise her.
One user then told Domenica that it “didn’t come across as a joke” to which she further doubled down on saying, “It’s a shame you’ve taken it that way.” We love to see a bit of gaslighting (not)!
However, some users didn’t see a problem with the post and showed their support for Domenica.
“Love Dom,” one user said. Whilst others said both women looked “great” in the dress.
What else has been happening with former MAFS star Domenica?
This isn’t the only controversy the reality star has been involved in lately.
Domenica also copped backlash for lying for and defending co-star Al Perkins amidst ‘rumours’ that the 26-year-old was dating 17-year-old influencer Hope Kelesis.
These ‘rumours’ have since been debunked, as the pair finally announced their romance just days after Hope’s 18th birthday.
