The Bachelors Australia 2023‘s Jasmine Absolom was aggressively slut-shamed on the street by another woman and caught it all on camera.

The 24-year-old is set to ruffle some feathers on the revamped dating series. However, it won’t be the first time her name has made headlines.

Jasmine’s experience hit the news cycle in April 2022 after an older woman confronted her over her “disgusting” outfit one night in Brisbane.

She was walking home after a workout, wearing bike shorts and a puffer jacket over a crop top, when the stranger began labelling her a “whore” and “slut”.

“I was in shock, I couldn’t believe she was saying these things,” Jasmine told 7Lifestyle. “For a split second, I thought to walk away.

“But if every woman walked away when they get a sexist comment or abuse, nothing will change. I knew I had to say something.”

In a video shared to TikTok at the time, the slut-shaming woman screamed obscenities at the marketing assistant.

“Cover your a*s… I actually had to see your clitoris,” she yelled. “You are a wh*re. You are a wh*re. Women do not want to see this.”

Hitting back at the woman, Jasmine told her that “women can wear whatever they want.”

However, things quickly escalated.

What happened after The Bachelors‘ Jasmine Absolom hit back at the aggressive stranger?

**CONTENT WARNING: The following mentions sexual assault and may be distressing for some readers.

Jasmine explained to 7Lifestyle that the stranger continued to hurl insults at her.

“She told me that my mum should be ashamed of me,” the Queenslander recalled.

“She said over and over again that I’m the reason women get raped, that women like me drive men to do horrible things, and they can’t control themselves.

“The whole event went for about 15 minutes, I filmed about six minutes of it.”

She said she recognised the woman was becoming more agitated, so she splashed water on her face before fleeing the situation.

“When I got around the corner, I just burst into tears,” Jasmine admitted, noting that her experience should be a reminder not to judge women over their choice of clothing.

“These things happen to women every single day,” she said. “People need to know this type of behaviour isn’t okay and it needs to be called out for what it is.

“What you wear is your choice and only yours, nobody has the right to tell you what to do with your body.”

The video — along with Jasmine’s TikTok account — has since been set to private in accordance with The Bachelors contracts.
