The Challenge Australia 2022 may have pulled out some of the biggest names on the local D-list celebrity roster, but it still hasn’t been enough to save the inaugural season from being axed from its prime-time spot thanks to a huge ratings flop.
The reality competition show pulled in meagre ratings from day-dot, with the November 14 premiere starting off with just 257,000 metro viewers.
The ratings have only been downhill since then, with even the biggest reality TV fans’ heads turning elsewhere thanks to The Challenge Australia’s anti-climatic scandals, lacklustre drama and half-hearted showmances.
So we’re not exactly surprised The Challenge has been bumped from its initial prime-time position, but ooft, that’s gotta hurt!
The remaining episodes will play out on 10 Shake. And ‘WTF is that?’ We hear you all ask… Yeah, we had no clue that existed until today, either.
Airing mostly re-runs and children’s programming, 10 Shake appears to be an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel where shows pretty much go to die.
It seems Ten are trying to get rid of The Challenge as fast as possible, screening double episodes from next Monday and that’s just more awkward than Ciarran Stott’s cheating scandal in the shower…
The remaining will air at 8:30 pm (and then 9:30 pm) on 10 Shake. Daytime repeats are also out on 10.
