The Amazing Race Australia 2022 couple Jake O’Brien and Holly MacAlpine have landed themselves a spot on the next season of MTV’s Ex on the Beach US, even though they’re still very much an item.
To quickly recap, the model couple has been together for three years and first hit the limelight when they appeared on an international adventure show earlier this year. However, they only lasted a few episodes before being eliminated.
As reported in episode 225 of the So Dramatic! podcast, it seems their 15 minutes aren’t quite up, with GamerVev (A.K.A @MTVchallengeinsider on Instagram) spilling that they’re slated to appear on the upcoming Ex on the Beach.
According to the MTV die-hard, Jake and Holly have just filmed the sixth season of the US dating show.
Naturally, you can imagine our confusion that a couple still dating is appearing on a show about exes.
However, according to GamerVev, the duo’s involvement is part of a bid to revive Ex on the Beach.
“So this season’s twist is that they’re bringing on couples and their exes,” she revealed. “It’s going to be messy.
“The US version has flopped the last two seasons, so they’re trying something new.”

Now, this all seems to check out, considering both Jake and Holly posted pics of themselves at Sydney Aiport’s departures lounge on September 15.
“Getting away for a little while. Stay tuned for updates in due time,” Jake penned, while Holly mused, “BRB” alongside a plane, a winky-face and heart emojis.
A month later, The Amazing Race couple reemerged on social media, sharing snaps from Gran Canaria on Spain’s Canary Islands.
However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen an Aussie reality pairing take to the MTV series.
In early 2022, Married at First Sight Australia, exes KC Osborne and Michael Goonan faced each other on Ex on the Beach UK.
Ex on the Beach Season Six’s Casting Callout Confirms Couple Twist
So Dramatic! host Megan Pustetto managed to track down the casting callout for Ex on the Beach season six, which further confirms that they included current couples in the new instalment.
“Are you in a committed relationship that is ready to move to the next level?” the casting announcement read.
“MTV US are currently casting globally for a new series of Ex On The Beach. Filming will take place in an exotic international location, mid-September through mid-October 2022.”
MTV’s website also had additional prompts for potential applications, including: “Is an ex getting in the way of your relationship?”, “Do you wish your partner would cut ties with their ex?” and “Is your ex causing waves in your current relationship?”.
Christ on a bike, we can’t wait to see WTF Jake and Holly have to hash out…
The network was also seeking singles who have unfinished business with their exes, and, TBH, this sounds more like Temptation Island to us!
