Fans have put former The Voice Australia coach Delta Goodrem on blast for teaming up with the Victoria Racing Club ahead of the 2022 Melbourne Cup.
The Born to Try singer recently shared her collaboration with the club on Instagram, musing that she’s “looking forward” to experiencing the “magic of the Carnival”.
“I’m honoured to be continuing my partnership with @FlemingtonVRC,” she penned alongside snaps of her posing with a horse. “Looking forward to being trackside for @LexusAustralia Melbourne Cup Day to soak up all the magic of the Carnival.”
It wasn’t long before complaints came rolling in, with fans calling out Delta for alluding to horse racing as “magic”.
“Horse racing is not magic. It is straight-up cruelty,” one disgruntled user wrote.
Another expressed: “honoured?? When will this end?!”
“Idk [sic] should you be supporting such a cruel ‘sport’ though?” an Instagrammer questioned.
“I love you, but horse racing is a cruel thing to enjoy and promote,” another agreed.
One devout Delta fan admitted that while she is an avid supporter of the singer, they can’t get behind the 37-year-old’s messaging.
“It certainly makes me sad when you endorse, or rather are happy to be paid to endorse, races that are beyond cruel to animals,” they penned.
“Let us not forget these horses are punished for entertainment and sometimes put down on the track after being brutally pushed to their limits.”

The Voice star’s involvement with Victoria Racing has been a point of contention in the past.
Her decision to perform at the 2020 Melbourne Cup was cause for much animosity between the singer and her fans.
“Is Delta aware how many horses have been killed or died for this barbaric event?” one fan queried.
“Takes the only gig she can get, supporting abuse of animals,” another user added.
