It was meant to be entering its ninth season; however, rumours have begun circulating that I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here Australia is not returning in 2023.

As reported in episode 216 of the So Dramatic! podcast, despite rating well in 2022, a Channel Ten insider seems to think that the popular summer series has been scrapped from the line-up.

“They aren’t going ahead with it next year because they already have a number of shows that have already been filmed, still to put to air,” the source dished to So Dramatic!

The Bachelors, The Challenge and Survivor have all been filmed and are all set to air in 2023, leaving Ten’s schedule backlogged.

Why Is I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here 2023 Being Scrapped?

According to the insider, the network is focusing “all of their money and efforts” on new shows like The Real Love Boat and The Challenge, to give them a “proper chance of success”.

They are said to be replacing the long-running shows like I’m a Celeb and The Bachelor, which “are becoming monotonous and repetitive.”

However, for fans of celebs eating disgusting sh*t in the jungle, it looks as though there’s hope for a triumphant return.

“They will rest I’m a Celeb for a year and will see how these new shows go before deciding if they will pick it up again in 2024,” the source revealed.

“The Bachelors will air because it’s been filmed already, but it’s not a priority now.”

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here had Become “Tired”

Since its inception in 2015, the show has been relatively the same, even when faced with a global pandemic! And according to the So Dramatic! spy, its predictability is reason enough to put it on hold.

“The roster of celebs has become a bit overdone,” they said. “And they feel like they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. If they rest it for a few years, they will have a larger, more interesting pool of celebs to draw from.”

“It is also not a cheap show to make,” they said. “They have to have a large budget to pay for the celebrities. Dr Chris [Brown]‘s and Julia [Morris]’s salaries are enormous and filming in a remote location is also costly.”

The source said that the network will be confirming this at the upfronts in October.

We’ll just have to wait and see!
