Big Brother Australia 2023‘s “looking for singles” casting call was apparently so popular that production had to extend their application deadline.
Production company Endemol Shine (the peeps also behind Married at First Sight and Beauty and the Geek) released a casting call in August that seemed to suggest they’re looking to put a romantic twist on the classic format.
Producers have since revealed that there has been an “overwhelming demand” to extend the tight casting call deadline.
As such, anybody who’s still tossing up on whether to send in their application now has until September 12 at 9 am.
Next Year’s Big Brother Australia Could Have a Dating Show Twist
In the original casting call (with an initial due date of September 5), show-runners revealed they were seeking “all single Housemates to come and play Big Brother’s game”.
However, they later confirmed on Instagram that “people in relationships are still welcome to apply” — although it sounds like they’re hoping to recreate some Drully drama again.
Big Brother Australia 2023 will adopt a shorter filming period than the past Fan vs Faves season.
In the 2022 season, finalists Taras Hrubyj-Piper, Reggie Bird and Johnson Ashak survived 62 days in the Big Brother house before the only remaining OG won in the live finale.
However, the 2023 contestants will have to duke it out to make the top three in less than 50 days! Sounds like there’ll going to be a few more double evictions and a lot more drama.
Big Brother Australia Fans and Former Stars Are Divided on the New 2023 Format
Most fans eagerly started tagging their friends on social media to urge them to apply, but some aren’t sure they’re keen on where the show seems to be headed.
While Johnson thought a new concept was “cheeky”, 2022 winner Reggie wrote: “Wow, this is interesting…🧐.”
Three 2020 housemates — Sarah McDougal, Hannah Campbell and Kieran Davidson — begged Big Brother to let them back into the competition.
Their former co-star Angela Clancy just seems keen to watch the drama unfold, writing: “Mmh yes please 😂 and if you’re in an entanglement also apply. We wanna see mess next year [sic].” Same, girl, same.
And it seems like Ben “from Brisbane” Zabel isn’t out of the running yet either, commenting on Instagram: “Here I come 🤓💘 haha.”
So, if you reckon you can outwit and outlast a horde of single housemates, you can check out the casting page here! But be quick!
