One half of an iconic Gogglebox Australia couple, Di Kershaw, has died following a short illness.

The 76-year-old had been a regular cast member of the hit TV-watching series alongside her husband, Mick, since the show’s conception in 2015.

3AW’s entertainment reporter Peter Ford broke the news live on-air on July 25, revealing that the reality favourite had sadly been unwell “for a couple of months”.

“She’s been sick sadly for a couple of months now, so condolences to Mick and the entire family. She was great talent, the producers struck gold when they found her,” Peter said of Di.

According to the Daily Mail Australia, doctors discovered an inoperable tumour in the Gogglebox star’s throat several months ago.

A friend of the couple told the publication that Di chose not to share her declining health with anyone.

“She didn’t feel well a few months ago and [Mick] took her to their doctor. After many tests and specialists, they discovered a tumour in her throat that was inoperable,” they explained. “That was when she decided not to tell anyone and just spend quality time with their family.”

On-screen, the former model was never without a glass of wine, nor did she shy away from declaring exactly what she thought.

When they didn’t appear in every season of Gogglebox Australia, Di and Mick worked together as art dealers in Sydney after opening their own gallery and dealership 30 years ago.

In 2020, the fan-favourite was honoured for her service to the visual arts, receiving an Order of Australia award.

The couple had been married nearly 50 years at the time of her death.
