The Bachelorette Australia 2021’s Brooke Blurton has revealed that the show’s producers waited days before telling her that her sister had died.
During an interview with Angie Kent and Yvie Jones on the Two Girls One Pod podcast, the reality star said that her sister had passed away during the show’s post-production (in August 2021) — the same time she was spending time with her winner, Darvid Garayeli.
“My sister died post-production, literally the day that I was saying goodbye to Darvid after our two or three-day rendezvous,” Brooke said. “My sister’s dead, and I haven’t been f*cking notified.”
Yvie was shocked at the revelation, telling the former Bachelorette that she “didn’t know that” before Brooke said that this was the “reality of my world”.
“I’m this Bachelorette, I’m this really glamorous person… they put you on this massive pedestal and you’re like, ‘No, like my sister’s got schizophrenia or had schizophrenia, she’s got a past history of drug and alcohol substance abuse,’ and here she is passed away, and I’m saying goodbye [to Darvid] and jumping into a car to be sent to an Airbnb.”

In her new book, Big Love: Reclaiming Myself, My People, My Country, Brooke writes about the “reality” of her life.
“Because I’m not what people all think,” she told the co-hosts. “I’m much more than that. And I think that was a real struggle dealing with grief, all I wanted to do was be by myself and I couldn’t.”
