Dancing with the Stars Australia 2019’s Constance Hall has revealed that she lost all of her life savings due to a dodgy real estate scam.

Taking to her Facebook, the mum-of-seven revealed she felt “stupid” and “devastated” after paying money to a real estate agent via email link to secure a rental property.

After shelling out thousands of dollars, the bank could only recover $7.57. However, after a GoFundMe page was set up by a fan, she urged people not to donate.

“Officially, the worst school holidays ever! I’ve been saving money to get our rental, just a six-month lease before I completely over welcome our stay at mum’s house,” she wrote on the platform.

“So I decided to look at properties that had been online for the longest amount of time, hoping to increase my chances.

“And there is was, a beautiful house with a pool and garden and four furnished bedrooms only available for four months, perfect. [sic]”

Constance then revealed she wouldn’t “usually” spend that kind of money, however, she felt like her family “needed a break” and she could “afford it”.

“It just meant I couldn’t save while I was there,” she wrote.

“That’s a big hit for the school holidays, but I thought about how excited the kids will be when I tell them, it will be like a holiday in itself,” she later added.

Why Did Constance Hall Spend the Money?

The Dancing with the Stars alum revealed that she had been approved for a house and was sent the paperwork, only to discover the details were not authentic. According to her real estate, they had been hacked.

“It was a lot of money. I was clearing out my savings account and part of last week’s wage,” she said.

“The last two emails that I had received on the same email thread weren’t actually from them, it was hackers.

“The bank account details weren’t really theirs and the house was never approved.”

While she “felt stupid”, Constance said that “as a business woman”, she pays large sums internationally and is “scam savvy”.

“This could have literally happened to anyone desperate to get a rental.”
