Al Perkins won the hearts of the nation during his stint on Married at First Sight Australia 2022, however, the show wasn’t his first reality TV rodeo — or his first choice!
As reported in episode 180 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one keen-eared member of the Drama Army overheard some spicy info whilst at the hairdressers!
Reportedly, Al had been doing some work on one of the fellow client’s houses and he had desperately been applying for the show because he “just wanted to get on TV”.
Additionally, in what comes as little shock to anyone, the larrikin had actually applied for Love Island Australia prior to auditioning for the infamous marriage experiment.
“He said he almost made it [on] Love Island before MAFS,” they spilled.
We can so picture Al living it up in the villa!
This Isn’t Al’s First Reality TV Appearance!
Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that our shoey-loving pal first appeared on Selling Houses Australia!
Spotted during a re-run of the hit TV series, the 25-year-old made a cameo appearance as a (very hawt) tradie, drilling a cabinet together.
Thankfully, there is some FAB picture proof.
In the next pic, Al is seen with host of Selling Houses Australia (and The Block judge) Shaynna Blaze!
Apparently, Al was featured in several episodes of the show….BRB, getting out the archives!
Al May Be Heading to the UK to Appear on TV
Now that the ninth instalment of the marriage experiment is airing on British broadcaster E4, Al has garnered the attention of casting producers behind some of the country’s most famous reality shows.
As reported by Yahoo! Lifestyle, the cheeky tradie could have some very lucrative offers on the table once his contract is up with Nine.
“Al is made for reality TV,” one British casting producer told the publication. “[He’s] a natural fit for most UK shows, where there’s big money to be made.”
According to the industry professional, Al could join the ranks of Geordie Shore stars and “teach the gang ‘shoeys’ and how Aussies party”.
They added: “Celebs Go Dating bosses are also interested in potentially signing him for a future season.”
Personally, we’d love him to be a surprise bomb on Love Island in the UK… but we’ll settle for anything!
Well, he didn’t come out of Married at First Sight a husband, but he’ll definitely emerge from the experiment as a STAR!
