Love Island Australia 2021 winners Mitch Hibberd and Tina Provis have broken up just mere months following the grand finale.
As soon as the 25-year-olds locked eyes in the villa, the pair became quick fan-favourites, outshining the rest of the show’s couples.
However, despite a strong few months, there has been a mountain of recent speculation among fans that the pair had split after their social media activity seemed a lil’ off.
Now, Tina has taken to Instagram Stories to confirm her split from Mitch, citing “this was not [their] time”.
“This is difficult for me as my instincts is to deal with this in private,” she penned on Tuesday morning. “However, I have been living a very public life, and for that reason, I want to speak openly on here so that I never have to address it on the internet again.”
She continued: “It’s with a very sad, heavy heart that I tell you guys, Mitch and I are no longer together. I’m so devastated to be sharing this news with you and I am still processing the situation. Sadly, this was not our time and we agreed that the best decision for us right now is to part ways.”
The “absolutely shattered” Sydneysider said that she “put everything [she] had” into her partnership with Mitch. However, she “[lives] with no regrets”.
“It was such an amazing relationship and I still care so much for Mitch,” Tina reaffirmed. “But sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you want something to work.
“Sometimes the timing is off, things don’t quite align, and that’s just life.”
Tina ended the post by asking for privacy and kindness as she and Mitch work through their breakup, noting that she wishes her ex “nothing but the best”.
What Has Mitch Hibberd Said About His Split From Tina Provis?
An hour following Tina’s post, Mitch shared his own statement to Instagram.
“Out of respect I would like to let you know that Tina and I have decided to end our relationship,” he penned. “It’s obviously extremely shattering and a very emotional time for both of us.”
The former footballer added that they have “agreed to still stay in contact and be in each other’s lives as best as [they] possibly can”.
“I am Tina’s biggest supporter and always will be. She is such an amazing person who I could not speak more highly of.”
Noting that it’s “honestly shattering” things didn’t work out, Mitch thanked his fans for their support during his Love Island journey.
Why Did Fans Think Tina Provis And Mitch Hibberd Broke Up?
After leaving Love Island Australia $50,000 richer, both Tina and Mitch were absolute fiends for a loved-up Insta post.
However, in recent weeks, Tina’s account has been littered with snaps of herself and friends, with the last #Titch pic posted on January 24.
Similarly, Mitch’s last couple post appeared on January 30.
While some fans suggested they were still together due to an early Valentine’s Day collaboration with Airtasker, others weren’t convinced.
“Apparently [the ad] was old because her nails in the clip are from a few weeks back,” one fan suggested online.
Did A New Business Venture Drive A Wedge Between Tina Provis And Mitch Hibberd?
In a private Love Island Facebook, one user said that a candy apple company was the catalyst for the pair’s breakup. Huh?!
The user wrote: “I heard Tina is now partners in a candle apple making company and that’s why they’re no longer together.”
When asked on Sunday if he had any proof, he cryptically said that “all will be revealed in the next 24 hours.” Coincidence? I think not!
“People from Mitch management have revealed that he was upset Tina wanted to do this on her own, he felt betrayed,” the user alleged. “This plus added growing tensions have resulted in a messy breakup.”
Of course, this is all very much he-said-she-said, so naturally, take these comments with a grain of salt.
