The producers behind Married at First Sight are currently casting for their new reality TV series, Modern Dating.

Production company EndemolShine Australia has shared a casting call on Instagram, hoping to entice prospective contestants.

However, the callout is vague AF, so we actually have no idea what the format of the upcoming reality show is.

In a previous Insta clip spruiking the new series, a voiceover questioned viewers as to whether they were “ready to meet [their] soulmate”.

“Join us on a brand new journey to love,” it teased. “All ages and backgrounds, tackling modern dating like never before.”

The video concluded: “The love of your life could be just around the corner.”

Despite the clip featuring couples grinning and frolicking around a beach, we’re totally convinced it’s false advertising. Because when has anyone ever walked off a reality dating series with a smile on their face?

What Are The Application Requirements For Modern Dating?

Single Aussies can apply for Modern Dating via the show’s casting website.

The site asserts that applicants must be “genuine” about meeting their soulmates and be able to commit two months to the show from April to June 2022.

You also need to be over 22 years old as of January 1 2022 and be available for an audition day during March.

Seems simple enough, hey?

The page also indicates that the show will “explore modern dating like never before”, which honestly means this new series could go in ANY direction.

Married At First Sight 2022 Has Already Been Off To A Tumultuous Start

Let’s hope Modern Dating casts some contestants who are less problematic than those who frequent MAFS!

Married at First Sight 2022 may have only kicked off this week but plenty of drama arose while the series was filming.

To begin with, one groom was booted from the show after just two weeks in the experiment!

Simon Blackburn was withdrawn from the upcoming season after a number of vile videos he made resurfaced online.

**Trigger warning: This article discusses homophobia, racism and sexism and might be distressing to some readers.

In a series of videos that were obtained by So Dramatic!, Simon can be seen making a number of degrading comments towards women and the LGBTIQA+ community.

During one video, the Melbourne-based FIFO worker described homosexuality as “filth”.

“You might as well jump in a box, you’re gonna get AIDS,” he said. “If you are gay, you are gonna get AIDS.

“It’s just disgusting. It’s like filth, it’s actually filth. That sexual orientation is f*cking filth.”

Channel Nine confirmed to So Dramatic! that they had decided to remove Simon from the series after being made aware of the disturbing videos.

“When unacceptable social media content was discovered in relation to Simon Blackburn we immediately took steps to remove him from the program. We won’t be making further comment,” a spokesperson said.

Married at First Sight 2022 will air on Channel Nine in the New Year.
