Jason Oppenheim has FINALLY opened up about his relationship with his Selling Sunset co-star Chrishell Stause.
And while we didn’t get to see it play out on screen in season three, the star of the hit Netflix docusoap spoke to US Weekly about why the pair decided to keep their romance under wraps.
“I think when [a relationship is] public, it puts a lot of just added pressures and publicity and opinion,” he said.
Jason — who once was in a long-term relationship with co-star Mary Fitzgerald — also revealed that it was predominantly Chrishell’s decision to keep their coupling on the DL, saying: “I followed her lead on things, and I respected her decision making on that.”
He intimated that the pair wanted to allow the relationship space to develop organically, away from the prying eyes of fans and media.
Jason Oppenheim and Chrishell Stause Didn’t Even Tell Their Colleagues They Were Together!
Jason, the founder of Oppenheim Group, disclosed that he and Chrishell hardly told anyone they were dating.
The only people in the know of the pair’; relationship status were a very select in their inner circle, including family friends. They didn’t even tell their colleagues!!
We’re not sure about you, but it was SO OBVIOUS during the season that they were together and just weren’t telling anyone…
So, in short, Chrishell and Jason were sitting on the JUICIEST piece of goss ever!!
The couple went public in July 2021, but we will have to wait for season five to see their co-stars IRL reactions to the news.
Why Did Jason and Chrishell Decide to Go Public?
Despite wanting the keep their relationship private, Jason and Chrishell went public in July 2021 with a PDA-packed Instagram pic from a trip they took to Italy together.
The pair had been photographed together by paparazzi on the trip, and wanted to beat the media moguls to the announcement.
They made their first public appearance together the next month, getting cozy on the red carpet at the premiere of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings in Los Angeles.
Crishell Was Married When She Met Jason
The pair met in 2018 when Chrishell started working for The Oppenheim Group, which Jason co-owns with his brother Brett Oppenheim.
Filming for Selling Sunset, which revoleves around the high-end real estate brokerage firm selling pricey AF properties in LA, started shortly after.
At the time, Chrishell had recently tied the knot with This Is Us star Justin Hartley. The marriage was short lived, and the pair split in November 2019, during filming for season 3 of Selling Sunset.
In the third season of the show Chrishell alleges that she found out of Justin’s divorce via text mesage. And WTAF Justin!
She confessed to co-star Mary: “Because of the crazy way in which this went down, people want answers, and I f*cking want answers.”
