Ever wondered how much the contestants get paid for Love Island Australia 2021?

While lounging in the sun all day and flirting up a storm might be payment enough, it turns out you can make some mega bucks being an Islander!

As revealed in episode 122 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one inside source said the Islanders receive a daily fee of $150 for expenses.

Sure, that figure doesn’t sound like much on its own. However, the insider also confessed the Islanders also get paid a “bonus” for any brand-affiliated posts (i.e. sponsored content) they make while in the villa!

See them flaunting their Showpo outfits? Paid! How about those clips where they do quizzes sponsored by a streaming platform? Yep, paid!

“They get absolute bank for the brand deals they do during filming,” the insider told So Dramatic! host Megan Pustetto. “They get paid about $1,000 per post.”

“They are basically giving them paid sponsored Instagram content to do in the villa.”

Not to mention the thousands of followers they gain throughout the experience plus a number of post-show brand endorsements — we guess they really do prepare the contestants for life after Love Island after all!

A Love Island Australia Contestant Says The Show Is Somewhat Scripted

Of course, the Islanders’ hefty paycheques come with a price of their own — and sometimes that price is playing into the producers’ plans for the show!

In episode 122 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a friend of evicted constant Emily Ward claims that the show is heavily influenced by producers.

“It’s not scripted but it’s definitely heavily influenced by producers,” they dished.

“For example, we didn’t see so much regarding Emily and Taku, but they were actually really close when she first entered the villa,” the source confessed. “They had like little in the villa dates that we didn’t get to see.”

Damnit! why does so much great footage get left on the cutting room floor?!

Another source who dished some dirt to the So Dramatic! podcast, revealed that a lot of what you see is produced to “make a day more interesting”.

Apparently, reality series Love Island Australia is somewhat scripted for production value! Source: Nine.

“For example, Rachael Evren hooking up with Jordan Tilli was all set up,” the source told host Megan Pustetto in episode 117 of the podcast.

Another storyline which the production team also had a hand in, was the Taku Chimwaza, Jess Velkovski and Aaron Waters love triangle. Say what?!
