He may currently be loved up on Love Island Australia 2021 with Michela Louis, however, it’s no secret that Taku Chimwaza has been to “friend-zone island” on more than one occasion.
And in the real world, Australian fans have fallen hard for the 24-year-old and have even questioned why these girls aren’t coupling up with him faster than you can say “I got a text!!!”
Well, we finally have an answer and it’s not what you would expect. Apparently, it’s all to do with Taku — but not in the way you might think.
Why Does Taku Chimwaza Always End Up in the Friend Zone?
As reported in episode 122 of the So Dramatic! podcast, host Megan Pustetto revealed the real reason he’s been friend-zoned so many times.
According to an evicted contestant, he does it to himself! Wut?!
“Taku has had a long journey and I think right now, he will take whatever he can and is less authentic than maybe when he first came on the show,” they said. “Also, he friend-zones himself!”
“He was talking to Aisha [Campbell] and Michela at once. Invited one to share a bed with him but told the other one he was vibing with her more.“

The talented footballer from Wollongong had only been single for eight months before entering the villa, and before that had a four-year relationship. So maybe he’s just out of practice because he’s been on the dating bench?!
One thing is for sure, is that Taku is a firm believer in love, and believes you only get one shot at life, so went on Love Island Australia to find love.
