Model and Big Brother VIP star Josh Carroll may have risen to internet stardom for his good looks and suave #fitspo pics, but there’s much more to the Insta-star than meets the eye.
Although he hasn’t made a huge splash on the hit show just yet, we’re certain there’s much more to come!
Growing Up Josh Carroll Was a Self Confessed ‘Nerd!’
Despite an impressive modelling portfolio featuring campaigns for Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Topman, 31-year-old Josh stressed he wasn’t always happy with his looks.
A self-professed former “ugly duckling”, Josh admitted he spent his teenage years avoiding social situations, and was usually playing computer games in his room.
It wasn’t until leaving school that he grew into his looks and gained confidence after falling in love with the gym.
Over the last few years he’s documented his fitness journey on instagram, sharing his workouts and nutrition plans with followers.
His efforts in the gym are clearly paying off, with Josh featuring as the July 2021 cover star for the Fitness First magazine.
He also still loves gaming and keeps his followers updated on his current pursuits.
Big Brother’s Josh Carroll’s Famous Friends
Since starting his modelling career, Josh has put his lone-wolf days behind him, now boasting a thriving social circle.
He regularly documents his friendship with fellow models Josh Hueston and Lucas Whitesmith, as well as Love Island Australia’s Shayne Tino on Instagram.
He previously dated Aussie model Madi Edwards.
The pair were together for roughly two years before Madi moved to Los Angeles to pursue modelling stateside.
Big Brother VIP Australia Isn’t Josh’s First Charity Initiative
The charity Josh is playing for in the Big Brother house is Keith’s Closet, an initiative started by mental health inpatient service the Kiloh Centre in Sydney.
The drive provides patients at the Kiloh Centre with new clothes and toiletries, and seeks to offer them an opportunity to “be free from their illness, if only for a short while.”
Josh has been a keen advocate for mental health and samaritan work on his social media platforms before entering the series.
In September last year, he was an ambassador for the Prince of Wales Power Up challenge to raise money for healthcare workers.
Josh’s Ruthless Big Brother VIP Game Plan
Despite his sweet nature, Josh has made it clear he will do what he must to play to the end and win the $100,000 cash for his chosen charity on Big Brother VIP.
He hopes he can play into the unthreatening model trope and leave his fellow contestants blindsided to his secret skills and talents.
He is not there to make friends, stating “If I have to vote you out, I have to vote you out. It’s what we signed up for, it’s why we’re here.”
It is clear Josh is playing to win, telling Seven: “This puppy dog might just turn into a Rottweiler.”
