Darvid Garayeli might be a ‘Persian Prince’ but will he get his princess Brooke Blurton at the conclusion of The Bachelorette Australia 2021?

The 27-year-old Brisbane landscaper cemented his position as a frontrunner after Brooke awarded him the First Impression Rose.

ICYMI, the First Impression rose is offered to a contestant who made the best impression on our Bachelorette on the first night.

However, we’re not totally convinced that handsome devil Darvid will be the person standing next to her at the end!

Hear us out.

The First Impression Rose Recipient Rarely Wins

Despite everyone wanting to nab that white rose on premiere night… they probably shouldn’t!

In the seven-year history of The Bachelorette Australia, only two men who have received the First Impression Rose have gone on to win: Sasha Mielczarek in 2015 and Carlin Sterritt in 2019. And even then those relationships didn’t last!

Yep, inaugural Aussie Bachelorette Sam Frost gave Sasha her First Impression Rose, which was the first step towards their public AF breakup. Is it too soon to say “bullet dodged” on Sasha’s behalf?

Courtney Dober received Georgia Love‘s white rose in 2016, but he was sent home after his hometown date.

Aussie icon Sophie Monk awarded Sam Cochrane a “double delight” rose — which would’ve been more aptly named “double disaster” after he spiralled into a villain edit.

Dog park fiend Bill Goldsmith managed to swoon Ali Oetjen into giving him the “wild rose” in 2018 — before she chose Taite Radley at the end.

In 2019, the First Impression Rose’s bad luck waned — reality star Angie Kent gifted Carlin her “24-hour” rose and the pair rode off into the sunset together in the finale. They then went their separate ways some months later.

As for Elly and Becky Miles‘ duo season, they yeehaw-ed it up a bit with a “country rose”. This was received by Harry Harris. Given we can’t recall who TF he is, it’s safe to say the rose didn’t do him any favours.

Unfortunately, things aren’t looking good for our sweet prince Darvid thus far.

The First Single Date Is A Red Herring

Formulated to throw us off the scent of who will ultimately win, is the first single date of the season.

Like the First Impression Rose, those who have landed the first date have never won the heart of their Bachelorette — aside from one but we’ll get to that in a moment.

To quickly recap who jetted off on the first dates each season:

2015: Sam Frost and Dave Billsborrow

2016: Georgia Love and Jake Ellis

2017: Sophie Monk and Jarrod Woodgate (#PotPlantsOutForJarrod)

2018: Ali Oetjen and Charlie Newling

2019: Angie Kent and Carlin Sterritt

2020: Elly and Becky Miles, along with Harry Harris and Shannon Karaka.

Now, before you get your knickers in a knot about Carlin having the first date AND winning — the terms of his First Impression rose was that he would receive the first date, too. This is the exception to the rule.

We digress.

The Bachelorette Fans Also Think The First Impression Rose Is A Bad Omen

A number of The Bachelorette fans have also weighed in on whether the First Impressions rose (and in turn, the first date) has any bearing on who wins the series.

And there you have it! While we love our Persian Prince, it doesn’t seem that the odds are in his favour. C’est la vie!
