If there was one thing we were counting on for drama on The Bachelorette Australia 2021, it was the possibility that Brooke Blurton‘s mixed-gender cast would hook up with each other in the mansion.

Turns out, that’s kind of hard to do when you’re not allowed anywhere near the opposite sex!

In episode 113 of So Dramatic! With Megan Pustetto, one insider spilt that the contestants were “split up” like kids at a Year Six disco!

“The boys and girls were split up and had separate mansions to live in that were next door to each other,” the source revealed.

They also added that the ladies stayed in Le Chateau where filming took place, while the gents were locked up at the property next door.

The Separation Continued On-Set

Not only were the contestants living quarters separate, but our insider tells us that the men and women were kept apart on set too!

“We were allowed no interaction with each other whatsoever. We were not even allowed to talk to each other,” they said. “Even when filming they would put us in separate rooms.”

Honestly, separating contestants by gender defeats the whole purpose of having a pansexual lead advocating for gender fluidity on The Bachelorette!

Bachelorette alum Jackson Garlick‘s Prediction

Former contestant Jackson Garlick was the first to predict this setup when Brooke was first announced as 2021’s Bachelorette.

He told So Dramatic! that he thought that the contestants would be “full-on separated”, even more than they were on Bachelor in Paradise.

On the beachside dating show, Bachelor and Bachelorette alumni stay in separate huts depending on gender.

“They will probably have two separate houses and two different house Assistant Producers,” Jackson said. Turns out, he was on the money!

Where Did Brooke Blurton Stay?

The insider exclusively revealed to So Dramatic! that for the duration of filming, Brooke stayed in a THIRD property rented by production.

“She stayed off-site in a relatively normal house nearby,” they told us — and the plot thickens!

In the past, the show’s lead has traditionally lived in a guest house elsewhere on the property, rather than a different location altogether.

Bachelor host Osher Günsberg also reportedly stays on location, which would explain why he can appear out of the blue at any given moment!

Why Did The Producers Separate The Cast?

Our So Dramatic! super sleuth also provided some insight as to why they think the producers separated the guys and gals in the mansion.

“I think they wanted to prevent a cheating scandal or a hookup,” they confessed, before confirming no contestants got together during the show. BORING!

Despite this, the trailer does hint at a cheating scandal of sorts, so it’s all very cryptic and confusing!
