Fans of The Bachelor franchise will know that The Bachelorette isn’t Brooke Blurton‘s first time putting her heart on the line.

But do you remember what actually went down following her reality TV debut back in 2018?

Aussie viewers were first introduced to the proud Noongar-Yamatji woman during Nick the ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins’ season of The Bachelor, and we instantly fell in love with her bubbly and happy-go-lucky nature.

From day dot, Brooke and Honey Badger had a strong connection. During her time on the show, the then-23-year-old publicly came out as bisexual during one of their one-on-one dates.

She later told WHO that she “felt pressure” to come out to Nick, but “wanted to tell him in [her] own time”.

“I want to be with someone who fully accepts me for who I am,” she said. Thankfully, the former Wallabies player was open and understanding of Brooke’s sexuality.

Brooke Blurton Left The Bachelor During The Second Last Rose Ceremony

Unsurprisingly, the youth worker quickly became fan favourite and was a clear frontrunner in the race for the Honey Badger’s heart heading into the final three.

Unexpectedly, Brooke left the mansion on her own accord before Nick could hand roses to his final two.  Her decision shocked not only Nick, but viewers who were rooting for a relationship between the pair.

Though unclear at the time, the real reason Brooke decided to leave the experience wasn’t revealed until she appeared on Bachelor in Paradise.

She told her fellow castmates she “thought [she]’d be that girl at the end”.

“Then he stopped the cameras and smothered his mic to tell me that he wasn’t going to pick anyone in the end,” Brooke said. Suddenly it all made sense for viewers, who watched the Honey Badger turn down both Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman in the season six finale.

Safe to say Honey Badger copped the brunt of his decision tenfold, especially after our queen Brooke cleared up what actually happened.

Brooke Blurton Is “So Ready” To Be The Bachelorette

In a Network 10 statement announcing her as the coveted leading lady, Brooke said she was “so ready” to embark on her Bachelorette journey.

“I’ve done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience,” she said.

Brooke, who identifies as pansexual, is the first lead of a Bachelor franchise worldwide to have both men and women vying for her love. She will also be the first Indigenous person at the series’ helm.

Airing on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm, Brooke’s much-anticipated quest to find love can be found on Channel 10 and 10Play.
