SPOTTED! In news that precisely no one saw coming, The Bachelor’s Matt Agnew is now following Abbie Chatfield on Instagram and even leaving her comments and likes.
While we can understand you questioning why this is worthy of a story, hear us out. This is actually some yuge news in the reality TV world!
Of course, the astrophysicist-turned-GOD chose Chelsie McLeod over Abbie to enter into a three-month contract with at the end of the 2019 season.
While Abbie was following Matt on the social platform after the show, Matt had never followed her. NEVER!
Why Has Matt Agnew Followed Abbie Chatfield After All This Time?
In episode 111 of the So Dramatic! with Megan Pustetto podcast, host Megan Pustetto deduced that Matt followed Abbie as a result of an Instagram post that he made last week.
After another Bachie alum, Sam Frost, defended her right to be unvaccinated, Matt took to his socials to “discuss and challenge a few points” that she had made.
“At its simplest, it’s a dog whistle,” he wrote before detailing medical reasons as to why people should get the vaccination.
Abbie, a vocal advocate for vaccination, then shared that post to her story and it appears he decided to follow her back in response.
TBH we absolutely stan this choice. While we don’t see them romping around the beach anytime soon, it’s definitely an olive branch!
It’s also interesting to note that Matt does not follow his final pick and now ex-girlfriend Chelsie or anyone else from his season.
After following Abbie, things appeared to progress even more. Matt liked several of Abbie’s Instagram posts last week.
Not only that, but he even left a comment on one post!
The comment read: “Congrats. Great work.” Now, this might seem insignificant enough for some, but publicly commencing on your ex’s Instagram after breaking their heart on national f*cking TV is pretty significant in our opinions!
So, Will Abbie and Matt Give It Another Shot?
After being brutally dumped by Matt in the 2019 Bachelor finale, Abbie has made no secret of the fact she might still be in love with Matt and would get back with him in a heartbeat.
“Yeah I am pretty sure Abbie and Matt have been talking since that Insta post,” a source told So Dramatic! host Megan Pustetto
“Matt slid into her DMs when she shared it to say thank you for the support and they started chatting from there. I wouldn’t be surprised if they got back together, it’s definitely not off the cards – at least for Abbie.”
Matt has also recently moved from Melbourne to Sydney — not far from Bondi actually — so could we have another Blake Garvey x Louise Pillidge situation on our hands? We can only hope!
