Jimmy and Tam were distinctive from the get-go of The Block 2020, but despite the odds being against them and their home’s distinctive aesthetic, the beloved couple won the 2020 season wowing judges and buyers alike with their striking 1950s Palm Springs-style property.

The Queensland couple also took home an additional $100,000 for making the highest profit across all the teams, with the Brighton property selling for $4.256 million at auction before shockingly falling through at settlement.

Fans of The Block will remember cyber security specialist Emese Fajk purchasing Jimmy and Tam’s home, but one month on from the finale the winning couple were forced to put their home back on the market after the 28-year-old reportedly did not make the required deposit to secure the property.

“We feel like we’ve been played,” Tam said in an interview with A Current Affair.  “She came to our house to watch the final episode with us… She actually cried with us when the result came over… We welcomed her into our family as a friend.”

Jimmy and Tam were still crowned winners of The Block 2020 despite the selling scandal, with the home eventually selling in June of this year for around $4 million.

At the time of auction, Jimmy and Tam made history after taking home the highest amount of profit in the show’s 18 years.
