The Voice Australia 2022 has kept a good thing going this year with Aussie country music star Keith Urban returning to coach the contestants for the third time since the show’s inaugural season in 2012.

Despite being born in New Zealand, Keith has been an Aussie mainstay since the early nineties when he released his self-titled debut album in 1991, with four of his singles charting in Australia. Since then, he’s had four Number One albums in Australia, as well as being a four-time GRAMMY, 10-time Country Music Award and People’s Choice Award-winner.

His career has seen him tour globally a number of times and has collaborated with some of the music industry’s biggest artists, including Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and P!nk.

After heading back to the states following The Voice Australia 2012, Keith put his coaching abilities to good use as a judge on another singing competition – American Idol – from 2013 to 2016, where he shared the spotlight with several fellow award-winning names such as Randy Jackson, Harry Connick Jr and Jennifer Lopez.

Keith married Oscar-winner and homegrown Aussie talent Nicole Kidman, after meeting the actress at G’Day LA, a Hollywood event promoting Australia.  The famous couple share two daughters, Sunday, 13, and Faith, 10.

When speaking about his return to The Voice Australia, Keith told 7News that he’s “amazed” with the quality of singers in his home country.

“Every year I think that we must be done with the talent in Australia, but they just keep coming!”

Keith will join returning coaches Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and Rita Ora on the spinning chairs this year.
